One should not be too harsh with the "minimal consensus" delivered last year by the G20 summit in Buenos Aires. It would not be fair to call it bluntly a sham or window-dressing consensus, or more artistically, a trompe l'oeil consensus.
The "Sherpas" of the Heads of State or Government are diplomats, after all, trained to draft around the greatest common denominator - not their fault if that figure can be very low. But even if they were like the other Sherpas, skilled mountaineers, trained to carry heavy and cumbersome packages through paths nobody else would guess in the mountain, they still could not be held responsible for what is in the package but is not useful, or should have been be in the package but is missing.
